INNOVATION EXPERIENCE (non-exhaustive list)
Since the beginning of my professional development as a Research Associate at the Institut für Rundfunktechnik - the research and development institute of the public broadcasters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland - I have significantly accompanied and influenced the development and introduction of numerous technologies in the media industry in various positions. In the early years, this included:
- the support of the introduction of DAB
- the development and introduction of EPGs for ARD and ZDF,
- active participation in the standardization and introduction of MHP, and
- project management in the introduction of PDRs for Premiere (now Sky).
Later in my career, I increasingly acted as a driver for the entire industry in the introduction of new technologies, e.g. by leading working groups at standardization bodies or industry grous, but also as an evangelist and speaker or panelist at international trade shows and congresses. In particular, during my time as Director Innovations and Standards at Premiere/Sky, this included:
In the more recent past, my focus as Senior Director Advisory Services EMEA/APAC at Imagine Communications has been primarily on:
- the introduction of HDTV,
- the introduction of 3DTV and
- the introduction of UHDTV.
- supporting enterprises in their migration to broadcast IP and
- change management.
Over the course of my career, which began in 1992, I have evolved from being a contributor to being a driver. The following lists some of those career steps with a view to my experience in different disciplines such as Innovation and Standards, working for public as well as private broadcasters and manufacturers in the Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment industry:
